My wife and I have been visiting Hawaii almost every year since her parents moved there. I know…don’t feel bad for me. Well, this year the following video was part of our trip. I’ll try to plan better in the future so quality won’t be an issue.
We got to see several other very cool related places too. Much thanks to this govisithawaii.com for helping me find the beach. Also here are a few of the other locations we got to visit (when I remembered my camera, sadly)

It’s been annoyance to me ever since coming over from the PC world (though actually I still play in both), but in Windows You can make Quicktime always stay on top of other windows. Logically, you would think that since Quicktime is an Apple product this nifty little feature would have been standard. Well you would be wrong.
No matter, because now there is Afloat. Afloat is a great little utility for mac that lets you keep windows afloat (pun intended) on top of all others. Afloat is easy to use and adds more windows management features to most Mac applications.
Using afloat is easy. Once it’s downloaded and installed just click on your application (for me it’s Quicktime), and go the the Window Menu. At the bottom of the menu you will see several new options with clouds by them. To keep your window on top of everything else, just click “Keep Afloat” or if you are a keyboard shortcut junkie like me then press control+command+A.
You can also adjust the effects to make it visible on every desktop of spaces, make it opaque or even just make the window and overlay so you can still click on what is under it. I’ve left some pros & cons below.

Overall it’s a fantastic addition to mac and can be used with either Leopard or Snow Leopard. For more info or to download try the ∞labs page for afloat. If you liked this app or find something I’ve missed then leave it in the comments!

I can’t tell you how excited I was when I heard that Where the Wild Things Are was being made into a movie. However, this wasn’t quite the same as the book I read so long ago. Looking back, I can see how I missed out on some of the themes such as a kid dealing with anger. But to me the movie put a lot more emphasis on dealing with emotions…well minus the dealing part.
I think you can take something from any movie, so here is the take home form Where the Wild Things Are: You can be a brat, act out, bite your mom and run away…and still get chocolate cake when you come home.
Enjoy

I’ve been doing some work on my wife’s website. Getting rid of the blog and trying to make it more static to focus on buying & selling real-estate and showcase her and her listings. That to the side, she used to let me post random things there and I hated to let this one be lost forever. enjoy:
This video really reminds me of Dave Ramsey. I really believe in the work Dave does so I’m not poking …well too much fun at him. But seriously, how bad is the financial state of America when SNL can make fun of good financial advice. This may not be totally related to real estate, but try buying a house with a really screwed up financial situation. …People that can’t get this baffle me.

So I like collecting data. I analyze my google analytics stuff way more than I should and other things of that nature. This year we had an opportunity to ask a funny question along with some serious ones, to the Sunday attenders at Cross Point in Dickson,TN. The question was simple: what is your favorite Christmas movie? And whether you want them or not, for fun…here are the results and a pretty graph.

This was my first Christmas on staff at Cross Point. It very cool to work with such an amazing group of people. Most people will give you run downs of what happens on Sundays or trips. I’m here to give highlights of what happened at our Staff Christmas Party.

Wow… there are seriously a lot of us! even thought I knew pretty much everyone it was pretty intimidating to first walk into the room.
Oh, dear god, thank you, you are such a good god to us. A kind and gentle and accommodating god, and we thank you oh sweet, sweet lord of hosts for the smorgasbord you have so aptly laid at our table this day, and each day, by day, day by day, by day oh dear lord three things we pray to love thee more dearly, to see thee more clearly, to follow thee more nearly, day, by day, by day. Amen.
What a great meal, I ate dessert first. I find that to be the most efficient way of enjoying any meal personally, plus who knows…if you start to choke on something a croak right there wouldn’t it be nice to be sure you at least enjoyed something at the meal? I digress. The meal was amazing though. Thanks to Cater To You Nashville, I would recommend you to anyone.
This seriously is a kind group of people! It seems pretty slow on the stealing of gifts, unless you were a gift card. I mean I stole a lot…In fact, I stole from Jenni Catron at least 3 time, all of which I blame on my wife. The best steal of the night however, came from the Cook family, as they teamed up to steal a gift from a reluctant Bergstrom family, who really loved their crayons. Surprisingly enough, the gifts that sat without getting too much attention in the stealing were a very tasteful plunger and some duct tape (I mean seriously, it can fix anything) and a Your Best Life Now Board Game. A lot of other good gifts, ranging in populatiry from funny to “really?”.
I was a little intimidated after hearing about the legendary gifts that Jarrod Morris brings every year. And he didn’t fail to disappoint… what better gift for the holiday season than the 2009 Jarrod Morris swimsuit calendar. Pete ended up with it and though he tried to seem distraught about it, I have a feeling it’s up in his office already.
All in all the night was grea, My wife and I waled away with a fun gift, two books. One is Everything Men Know About Women by Alan Francis and the other is Violation!: The Ultimate Ticket Book by James Napoli
. Both are great books, the one about women was a riveting read, I made it through the whole thing in 1 night.
Can’t wait until next year.

While I never tire of funny Turk and JD stories, it seems like I’ve seen part of this episode before (Back in Season 1 with, My Old Lady, and last season with My Last Words). I guess with a 9 year old show it’s hard not to repeat stories. In fact I think this story of a dying patient didn’t have anywhere near the feel of the previously mentioned two. Whether that’s because it’s harder to do with 4 people versus 1 or 2 or because it was rushed, I dunno. While I’m on things that I’m still not keen on, I still don’t know about the new version of the theme song by WAZ. Thoughts?
With that being said, what was nice was some character development from the new students. Finally, we get to see Cole (Dave Franco) finally show a side of himself other than being a jerk. Which everyone recognizes, as seen by Denise and Dr. Cox’s small talks about Cole. Maya (Nicky Whelan), finally got to say a few words but still all we know about her so far is that she is hot and Australian… not that that is bad, just makes you wonder if she will be in the show for the long run. The best moment for me was when Drew had a “Dr. Cox moment” at the end with Lucy. “Atta Girl”

I love gmail.
This week they released a very handy tool that I wish they would have had all along, removing duplicate contacts.
Just go to your contacts page in gmail: https://mail.google.com/mail/#contacts and you should see this:
Now click on “find duplicates” and let gmail do the rest. I cleaned up 40 duplicate contacts, which I blame my Blackberry and google sync for mostly.

It was both exciting and little strange for me to watch the new season of Scrubs, especially when Season 8 ended so perfectly. With that said, let’s talk about Season 9… or should it be Scrubs 2.0 Season 1? I digress…
First off, I really do like the new Scrubs. There are a few things that just seemed awkward. And having read too much, quite a few characters that I felt myself missing. It was good to see the Janitor (Neil Flynn), and though I do hope to see him again and that his new show “the Middle” goes well, I keep wanting to see him. The dude was a comedy genius. Sorry about the nostalgia, I could go there with a lot of people…especially Ted, but I’ll try to focus on “Our First Day of School. Though on a side note I can already see how the School Security will be to the new class what the Janitor was to J.D.
Denise works well with the new cast. I’m glad that she will be one of the regulars with Dr. Cox and Turk. Speaking of characters not staying, I do love Zach Braff…and in a way, the show will be completely different without him and some may even wonder how it will survive. However, there were many times that I found myself tired of JD and wondering why he was brought back. I mean seriously, it’s a year later and he is back at Sacred Heart. I would have been pretty happy without confirmation of how he and Elliot ended. And his jokes, seem like old material (still funny) but being replayed instead of giving new characters shots and the punch lines.
The new cast I do like though. While I think I could have done without carrying over the voiceover it is a trademark of the show. I am glad that of all the new cast we saw they chose Lucy (Karry Bishe) to carry on the tradition. Her first interaction with Denise was excellent. And Dr. Cox’s orientation speech to the class was truly legendary. I love the visual of them being murders and assassins trying to kill his patients. Classic Cox. But don’t discount Turk as a teacher either. His scary black doctor speech made me feel a little fearful.
Drew (Michael Mosley) seems like very solid character. I love the sarcasm and his whole demeanor. Past being the new romantic fling for Denise, I can see why Dr. Cox likes him. He is truly a young Dr. Cox. As for Cole (Dave Franco), I just don’t know what to think…he reminds me a lot of Ed (Aziz Ansari) from Season 8. I wonder if they will ever develop him or eventually boot him like Ed.
The good thing it, it’s still Bill Lawrence and it’s still very funny. I just like to laugh. Anyone else watch?

Denise: Commence Eating
Dr. Cox: Hold that thought…forever.
JD: You smell like prison.
JD: Could you be a doll and get a message to Dr. Turk ASAP? Tell him I’m stuck in a tree again, but this time there appear to be many bees.
Lucy: Sorry, I was jsut hiding from one of my teachers, it’s a little game we play.
Patient (Alan): Really?
Lucy: No, you can win at games.
Turk: I’m talking gremlins woman!
JD: Fonzie couldn’t take care of a gremlin, he’s too busy being cool.
Denise: You’re gonna hit that aren’t you?
Dr. Kelso: Like a big rig with no breaks.
Denise: That was disturbing.
